This is an amazing French Art Nouveau mother of pearl and sterling silver rosary with a silver plated etched rosary case - circa 1900. Both the rosary and the case are sprinkled with roses. The mother of pearl beads have an amazing glow and depth to them. I love how the beads feel velvety instead of slick. The medal is a side view of the Virgin Mary with a rose beneath her. The bottom bale of the medal is punched. The back of the medal is blank. The crucifix is decorated with rosettes as well. It has a French 'crab punch' and another unidentified punch in the bale. The rosary case is lined with green felt in the base as well as the lid. The front of the case is etched with such great detail - notice the face of Jesus on the crucifix and also the rose petals that are being carried by St Theresa in her Carmelite nun habit. This is a superb set.Rosary Case measures 2 inches across and 3/4 inch high. The rosary measures 15" long, including the crucifix.
