This cachette (French for 'hiding place') is a flaming heart ex-voto with a beautiful jagged halo around it. This replica made of a lightweight metal that has been distressed with an antiqued gold/brass paint and finish, complete with 'verdigris patina'. Stamped in the center of the distressed heart is a subtle Monogram of Mary, surrounded by a floral design. It's perfectly imperfect to authenticate an old, antique folk piece made purely by hand.

This ex-voto opens to reveal a space that will hold keepsakes, prayers, love letters, or a tiny rosary. Please note that this is a primitive ex-voto, and the heart has been hand cut. They are rustic in nature, and gaps do appear where the heart closes together. Very small items like locks of hair or thin jewelry may not be suitable for tucking inside, as they may slip out.

Entire piece, including the flame and halo, measures 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
